How The Epotread Flake System Works
Step 1: Apply the first primer coat of Epotread 1000 – Flake Floor Base Coat thinned 20% with water. This will create a long-lasting bond between the coating and the concrete substrate
Step 2: Apply second coat of Epotread 1000 – Flake Floor Base Coat
Step 3: While the second coat of Epotread 1000 is still wet broadcast the decorative flakes evenly across the surface
Step 4: Once the basecoat has cured and the flakes are securely bonded remove the excess flakes using a soft broom, wide scraper, or leaf blower
Step 5: Apply 2-3 top coats of Epotread W50 – Clear Flake Floor Top Coat. the top coats locks the flakes in place, seal the surface, and provide a smooth, durable finish.
Waterbased vs High Solids Epoxy
Waterbased Epotread 1000 Epoxy
Concrete almost always contains some level of moisture. The waterbased Epotread 1000 epoxy is designed to tolerate this, providing excellent adhesion even on damp or recently cured concrete. It also has low odour and low VOC, making it safer and more user friendly to apply indoors.
High Solids Epoxy Coating
Requires completely dry concrete for proper adhesion. While it offers a thicker and highly durable finish, any residual moisture can lead to poor bonding, blistering, or delamination over time.
